About Us

Ian Dance created IDS in 1988 after a long career in the catering industry. Building networks with local businesses, the MOD, schools and care homes, Ian created a portfolio of clients who continue to use IDS today. In 2009 Ian retired leaving his sons Bruce and Glynn to take IDS forward. They have brought to the business a wealth of experience in the catering arena including working in hotels and restaurants. With qualifications in gas and electric engineering, our team is able to deal with an array of catering engineering requirements.

Bruce Dance – Director

Not only one of our Directors, Bruce is also a very experienced engineer, our policy & legislative guru and has a natural flare for sales. Bruce is very focused on moving IDS forward within a constantly changing environment and is passionate about all things catering! He has preferred to in-house train all the engineers therefore giving local people the chance of a great career. Bruce is a keen sailor and plans to sail around the world as soon as he can.

Glynn Dance – Director

Along with being Co-Director, Glynn is our chief engineer. What Glynn does not know about catering engineering is not worth worrying about. His knowledge is so great we often use him as an encyclopaedia. Glynn always finds solutions to even the most complicated fix. He loves taking holidays with his family and entertaining friends with great food and good wine.

Jamie Dance – Director

Jamie, Bruce’s son is one of our highly skilled engineers who has just been promoted to Director. He is an extremely knowledgeable and reliable engineer who loves challenges. His tenacious approach always results in getting the job done. Having just got married his free time is spent with his family entertaining/play fighting with his 2 young highly active sons.

The first point of contact for quotes, servicing and engineering allocations – Mike works to co-ordinate all things IDS on a daily basis. He is fantastic at prioritising jobs, (Though not always popular with the engineers). His knowledge on spare parts is exceptional and will go out of his way to get works completed as soon as possible. Mike spends most of spare time looking after his two young sons, walking the dog and gardening. His ambition is to pass his driving test!!

Well what to say about Stephen or as he likes to be known as ‘Graham’, Don’t ask why as we don’t think he knows himself!! Graham is 3 years into his training and already proving himself as an accomplished and knowledgeable engineer who has just completed his City & Guilds category 1 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. Graham enjoys explaining how things work and giving his advice on the best solutions though you may need a translator as he has a very strong Manchester accent. In his spare time Graham enjoys spending time out socialising with his friends and eating Pizza!!
