Our Work

North Somerset Hospitality Industry making a comeback?

We know it’s strange times for much of us this week with the non-essential retail businesses slowly getting back to business. We have been working throughout the pandemic so support the Ministry of Defence and Local Authorities, hospitals and schools as the government classed as us key workers in order to keep these important organisations running.

For much of April, May and June we have solely been working for these companies but we are now slowly bringing the team back to work too with a hope to be fully operational by the 1st of July. Our engineers have been on site in PPE, helping with emergency repairs and maintenance and businesses have been calling for advice. It feels like some sort of normality is returning – if there ever was such a thing as normal in our team!

You’ll be pleased to hear our family are all doing well and despite a few hiccups, we are all making it through lockdown in one piece although as a close family business, you’ll understand how hard it is when you can’t all be together. Grandma Dance’s recipes have got us through the tough times though!

So, we hope this week treats you well and a huge thank you to the businesses who also managed to keep going and supported their communities. We have seen some amazing work from the local cafes, takeaways and restaurants here in Somerset helping the NHS with lunches, children with free food and villages with much needed food supplies. It’s been great watching how quick we all can be to help each other when we need it most.

We are very much on hand if you do need us; from planning out your kitchen in line with new rules and regulations or repairing a broken down oven, we can help you navigate your way back to business. The brilliant Johnny and Pete at Future Signs have some great social distancing signage packs ready to help you enforce the guidelines with customers. Give him them a shout if you need anything.

As well as the catering equipment we have on site, many of suppliers are also still able to ship products around the UK and Europe so if you are in need of new supplies do visit our shop or give us a call.

Keep safe from all the team at IDS.

We have a new Director!

He will not like that we’ve put this picture up but it certainly needs to be shared! This is Jamie shaking hands with his Grandad, Ian Dance, on starting his work experience back in 2005!

As a business created by Ian Dance over 30 years ago, we are a company who have consistently evolved through the generations and 2020 is no different.

From embracing the ever-changing regulations of the catering industry to the trials that can come within family-life, we’ve openly encouraged support from the rising ranks of the family.

Having been run by Ian’s sons Bruce and Glynn Dance for the past 10 years, we are pleased to announce the promotion of Bruce’s son, Jamie, to Director. Jamie has worked as a highly skilled engineer within the team for the past five years and is excited to lead the way for the future.

Bruce said; “It is such a pleasure for us to be continuing Dad’s work by being able to keep evolving and growing as a company. As we move towards the changing tides of the catering industry, it’s important that we push the next generation to explore ideas and technologies that keep us at the forefront of catering equipment and commercial kitchen installations.”

We know that Jamie is eager to push us to the next level and our customers just love working with him and the team. Glynn and I are proud to be welcoming him as Director and excited to see how IDS continues to grow across the South West and beyond.”

We’re pleased to share with you a brand new installation we’ve completed for the Congars Cafe in Broad Street, Congresbury which officially opened last week.

“I am so happy with what Bruce and the team delivered for us here at the Congars Cafe! Absolutely love the TurboChef ECO oven and looking forward to using it to its full potential”.

Enjoy these before and afters of Sonia’s new business venture, open Monday to Friday 8am – 4pm and Saturdays 9am – 4pm.

Outdated Kitchen gets brand new makeover!
IDS were contacted by Clarence Park Bowling Club earlier this year to help bring their outdated kitchen back to life.
Our role in transforming their outdated kitchen into a new modern up-to-date facility, was to provide drawings and plans, increase the gas supply, manufacture and install a new extraction and ventilation system plus supply, install and commission the new fabrication and cooking equipment.
Over many meetings, IDS staff and representatives from the bowling club put their heads together to come up with the most suitable arrangement that would fit the environment the new kitchen would be required to operate in.

Then the date was set and within a couple of weeks the kitchen was transformed to its new and modern spec. Members of the bowling club are very pleased with their new kitchen and have thanked IDS for all their hard work and professionalism and would highly recommend their services.

IDS and Turbochef showcase state of the art smart cooking equipment at latest event

Last week, we invited guests to view our latest reliable, smart ventless cooking equipment as part of our Turbochef showcase.

Over two days, a range of business owners visited our site in Bleadon, Somerset to see all that the Turbochef Sota, THE I3 & I5 and the FIRE Pizza Oven has to offer.

Turbochef chef John from Middleby and our Sales manager Brenton, guided us through the state-of-the-art commercial kitchen convection oven, showcasing how easy it is to achieve the perfect baking results.

The Sota oven provides superior speed and cooking performance in TurboChef’s smallest, most energy-efficient package. It also meant our guests (and hungry engineers) got to try out some great Panini’s cooked from fresh in under two minutes!

The Sota will cook a croissant in just 20 seconds and a toasted breakfast sandwich in 50 seconds – perfect for a busy restaurant, café or kitchen!

The FIRE Pizza Oven will cook an artisan pizza in 1 minutes 40 seconds!!! Seeing is believing, watch the video…

The results from the Sota are incredible; providing superior speed and cooking performance, this easy-to-clean machine can store up to 256 menus and has built-in self diagnostics. It’s up to 12 times as fast as a convectional oven, the Sota features a stirrer to help ensure even distribution of air and microwave, external air filtration, a vent catalyst to further limit emissions and odours, an LED timer that counts down the last 30 seconds of cook time and a top-launched microwave system.

Following the success of the open days, for a limited time only, we are offering the Turbochef Sota at just £3,499 ex VAT with finance options. This offer is only available until Sunday 30thDecember 2019.

IDS @ Houno Showroom Opening

IDS were invited to the opening of Hounö’s new showroom at Middleby UK in Wigan recently.

After a tour of the Middleby product range, including Pitco and Turbo-Chef, I was treated to the most unbelievable steak using Southbend’s gas grill! A quick change and back to the demo kitchen where Hounö chefs Martin and Edwin cooked a four course meal comprising of Crispy Fish, Egg Benedict, Beef Wellington and a Brûlée desert all made using Hounö’s fantastic range of Combination Ovens. With complimentary wine on offer it was a very nice, informal evening chatting with other distributors.

Once again a big thank you to both Hounö and Middleby UK for their generosity and good company.
